Then to Carmel …

I have to say, it’s been like one long geographical beauty pageant!!beach rosesBut instead of getting too frothy about it, I’m just going to share a few photos … gull2

Neither Out Far Nor In Deep

The people along the sand
All turn and look one way.
They turn their back on the land.
They look at the sea all day.

As long as it takes to pass
A ship keeps raising its hull;
The wetter ground like glass
Reflects a standing gull

The land may vary more;
But wherever the truth may be–
The water comes ashore,
And the people look at the sea.

They cannot look out far.
They cannot look in deep.
But when was that ever a bar
To any watch they keep?

SBHappy official summer and safe travels, y’all!

    • Kathryn — been thinking about you SO much, wondering how you’re settling in, and hoping that all the antagonistic Ecuadorian/US sentiment we’re hearing on this end isn’t affecting the welcome you’re getting in Cuenca … although I’m sure it’s not! Politics aside, Ecuadorians are SO nice, right??!!

    • Our family has been watching with unbelieving eyes the news stories about Wasque and its disappearing beaches — when will the Norton Point breach repair itself?? Ahhh, how I wish we were back there this summer!!!
